Awesome Colombian food! The empanadas, bunuelos, chorizos, and arepas are perfect. Order un calentao for breakfast. Delish! Staff is very nice and attentive. The place is always bustling. It's an overall great spot.

My boyfriend is Colombian and he swears this is the most authentic Colombian restaurant in Miami. We come here often for delicious and affordable food. Must try the fresh pineapple juice, bandeja piasa & sanchoco de gallina. Empanadas are perfect snacks too!

Okay, Mi Colombia.... I'm honestly astounded by all these 5-star reviews. But then again there's not that many reviews at this point. While I don't think it is a 5-star place, it is still a very worthy place to visit, especially after going to the beach. And I can see the other reasons why this place gets a lot of love. PROS: + Very affordable food (or as I would say - Cuban-cheap! Miamenses would understand this) + Large portions of freshly-made food + Nice and big side of salad is an option (which is a hard find in Latin places if you're a salad person like I) + Consistent, friendly service from a charming girl behind the counter + Casual, informal, and quick + Colombian empanadas are out-of-whack - maybe the best in Miami Beach CONS: + Sometimes the fish is salty and sometimes the food may not be of the best ingredients (which makes sense considering the prices) but they are all made with love. I have tried the whole fried fish and the fried chicken dish - I found the fish to be a bit salty, but not dried out. The fried chicken, I found to be well-flavored and prefer it over the fish. I also noticed that the bandeja paisa is a popular dish here as are the chicharrones. I also have tried their homemade suspiros/merengue cookies and they are perfect as well - soft inside and crunchy on the outside, and has a marshmallow-like flavor. And this place gets busy - pretty impressive since it's all counter-service and there are several other Colombian places within walking distance. Pictures says it all. Will be back again - and for sure, to get those empanadas!

mi colombia cafeteria is great home cooking at a very, very affordable price. this is a small eatery, a hole in a wall kind of place so do not expect luxury but do expect great dishes, all of the colombian classics. if you dont know about colombian food then ask one of the ladies behind the counter and you will get some guidance. colombian cuisine is simple but filling. everything comes with white rice so whatever you order will satisfy your hunger. they also make great empanadas so get one of those while you wait for your food. it doesnt take long for it to come out though, im just saying you should get an empanada if youre un muerto de hambre who just cant wait. im so glad i found this place!

I'm sure the food is good but the line was so long you couldn't even go inside. Not to mention seating is 5 stools and no parking on site you must Park in public parking. Cafeteria yes restaurante no.

This place is pretty cool. Seems like an authentic hole-in-the-wall type place where the customers all know the menu. Even the sodas were Columbian. I don't remember what I ordered, but it was a huge chop-type piece of meat, like pork or steak, well seasoned, with rice and another fatty pork rib type meat, fried plantains, and a really delicious bean dish. It didn't look great in the box but even on a hot day in Miami it was very tasty and filling. You could probably feed two people with one box. It was a lot of meat and a bit heavy so it's not for everyone. There aren't a lot of seats because it's such a small place but there's enough for the limited parking outside and the beach is so close you might as well do take out and go to the beach anyway (if you're a tourist).

Very good food, home made and always fresh. Don't judge by the place, if you try the food you would not go to any other Colombian in the area.

Delicious place! Very authentic. Love the steamed fish filet and chicken breast dishes. Serving portions are huge - probably almost double the size of average.

Authentic Colombian cuisine at its finest. Quick service and very friendly staff make this one of my favorites in Miami; I'll be going back for more fried fish and wild berry juice in the future.

While in Miami for my cousins wedding we wanted something local and Colombian. I really wish we had a Colombian place in Raleigh. This is absolutely the best food you can get. I would pay double of what they charge. It's a steal! Specials change daily ...we have had lunch here everyday of my trip. The beautiful woman who work here are very kind and fun. I loved everything I have tried and hope to be back soon.

Hung Over? come over and have some Colombian food here.. punish the rest of your organs and circulatory system here.. The Ambiance: Weird latin crowd, like being invited to a basketball buddy's house for dinner and his family is visiting.. awkward.. To top it off this man-faced weirdly voluptuous "lady" walks in in full exercise gear looking like a middle-aged cross between kim kardashian and a catcher's mitt asking for health food.. at a colombian joint where the kitchen consists of a big pot of frying oil? please.... anyway.. yeah, not a date-place. The Food: The Empandas were actually underwhelming. soggy/falling apart and not the crispy yellow corn kind I love from Colombian restaurants.. meh (the spicy salsa was pretty damn good though, but couldn't save it) The Bandeja Paisa was pretty good.. though they served it in a plate that was 1 milimeter bigger than everything else so it was impossible to eat without creating an utter mess of overflowing beans & rice, and forget about being able to cut the carne-asada. It was cumbersome to eat... Served with shit-ton of plantains, half an avocado, the hockeypuck white arepa (not a fan of those insipid waste of flour here or anywhere) The strip of chicharron was greasier than normal (I know it's chicharron, but the other Colombian joints serve it a bit drier/crunchier..) this was WAY too greasy, so I ate only the ends (meaty parts) Passion Fruit juice was on par... Arroz Con Leche was a nice little treat at the end. Will probably come back, but not dying to.

I've come here a few times now so better late than never on a review. I live a few blocks away and can't get enough. The Pollo Frito is in a world of its own and the prices are unbeatable. Easily beats meals I've paid four times as much for. Will keep coming back for sure.

I've been in the area, on and off for about 3 years. Previously I grew up in Miami Lakes home to many Colombians, hence many Colombian spots. And yes you guessed it I'm Colombian as well! So I've had my good share of Colombian cuisine. I walked in here one day starving looking for lunch, and since then I've gone back for more! I've almost had every plate on their menu and I think every daily special. Hands down the best Colombian food I've had. Great portions, fresh and it tastes homemade. Not a big fan of their empanadas. So if your looking for amazing empanadas I wouldn't send you here. I brought my family here, Colombian born and raised and they were so impressed with how close to home the food hits. It's not the prettiest restaurant either. It's a little hole in the wall, nothing fancy. And the prices are very decent. Soups are huge and are served with rice and fresh avocado. Daily specials are huge portions. And for breakfast, I always stick to steak with arepa con quedo (white corn arepa with traditional white cheese) and I pair it with homemade hot chocolate. And one thing I would recommend even if your not a big salad eater, is their salad. Everytime I order I pick the salad for one of my sides upon arrival those eating around me always end up ordering one for themselves. It's definitely not your plain lettuce and tomatoe salad!!!

Local ad local can be. Don't pass it up. Very friendly. If you're looking for ambience...do go here. I'd you're looking for dedicated, hard working people who care about what they serve...go here. My chicken dinner and rice pudding didn't even meet the minimum for my cc! Just go!

Feels like Grandma's kitchen counter!!! It is the closets to Home cooked Colombian food that you will find. Divey, not spacious or well decorated. All the thought went into the food and the way is made. Hungover: a "Calentao con Carne and a Sprite" will bring you back to life. Hungry: Bandeja Paisa While you wait: have a Buñuelo or an Empanada... Eat it quick... Food comes out really fast. Into Soups: Sancocho, Sopa de Mariscos are the way to go. Make sure you take some snacks home. Pan de Queso, Pandebono, arepas, merengues, or some bagged goodies from Colombia. Pair your dish with any Colombian soda. These people have them all. Oh how I love this place!!! Sunday Morning I feel like I'am home seating on their tiny counter with a giant plate. Their portions are huge. So keep that in mind... Sharing is a good option.

I'm downgrading from 3 STARS to 1 STAR. Strike 1) friendly nice young girls have been replaced by a frowning older woman. Strike 2) restaurant and bakery area didn't appear as clean as the last time I was here. Strike 3) I ordered milanese chicken, oddly they laid multiple slices of pork hidden under the melted cheese slices. No where in the Spanish or English version of the menu did it state this dish is served with pork. Strike 4) When I pointed out the discrepancy to the frowning older woman, she just looks at me. No apology no explanation nothing. The food is generally still a 3 STAR RATING, but everything else has gone to hell. It appears they might have new owners, but I'm not sure.

This place is a great hole in the wall for some traditional cuisine. There's about 10-12 bar stools to sit on. We ordered the sopa de pescado (fish fillet soup), bandeja paisa (traditional Colombian dish with steak) and a glass of fresh pineapple juice. The soup was the best (the Colombian dish was meh) - you really can't go wrong with the specials. There was only one lady that appeared to be taking orders and serving people - and she did it with a smile and made us feel like we were at home. She even tried to pronounce my name when giving us our bill. All in all - definitely worth the price (we paid $20 incl tip) and the quality of food!

The reviews made us go. The front door made us hesitate. It was undeniably one of the best decisions of our trip. The server was great, answering all our ignorant questions & being really attentive and helpful, and then the food arrived. Ay. Dios. Mios. We were all reaching over each other to try this and try that, and then there were the juices too! Why have I never known about mora, maracuya, or avena?! We ordered too much (great portions, even for the 6'4" guys) and the leftovers were polished off as soon as we made it back home and had room. It's a dive, but totally worth it. Even if you stick out as much as we did.

I love this place! definitely a "hole in the wall" but lordy does it have personality and sabor! Every time I've been here the ladies behind the counter are very nice. The portions are large and the food fills. Great location on 71st, which means anyone on a bus or in a car can get there. It's just a few blocks from collins, so it's walking distance for anyone getting off the bus there. They've also got these really tasty sweet bread pastries, the name of which alludes me, but the flavor of which seduces me! Highly recommended for a cheap, tasty meal. Although probably not the healthiest of places. NOTE: This place is small! seats perhaps fifteen people at most. Not good for a big group, but great for four or five people (if you don't mind sitting at a bar)

This place is a favorite of a couple of my best friends that lived in Miami. Last time I was in town, the scent honestly put me off, but I was pregnant and experiencing some weird food diversions. SO glad to go back and give this place a second chance. Food: We ordered the Pechuga De Pollo and Bistec a la Columbiana, both with rice and beans. The chicken was GREAT! The rice and beans were both very flavorful. The hot sauce that comes with it is a terrific addition. This is the kind of dish that makes you just want to mix everything together and chow down. The steak was seasoned well, but it was kind of tough. I can't even take a star away for this, just order the chicken. It came with some delicious onions and tomatoes on it.... which I later found out you can also get on your chicken. My loss! On our way out, we picked up some food to bring home to my friend, and I tried an empanada. Delicious!! Service: The lady behind the counter was really nice. She was actually the nicest service person that I had encountered in Miami. Ambiance: This is a Columbian spot with 2 bar areas to eat at or have espresso. Not a lot of space... it's a hole in the wall. Ambiance isn't what you're here for, though. Go here to eat and get take out if it's crowded. We got 3 huge orders of food (which lasted for two meals per person) for $20.

I don't write too many reviews. I'm Colombian, I have opened restaurants in Miami, NYC and chicago and this is one of the most cozy and delicious places I have ever been. It's run by a family from Medellin, Colombia. You can feel the passion and the love for what they do. I live in Chicago and I will be back here every time I come to Miami. A great authentic Colombian restaurant. Their menu is pretty simple but has everything you need to taste some Colombian food. Price is not necessarily cheap but worth the food. Staff is friendly and food comes out in minutes. They could do some work on the way the place looks. The front looks like an jail cell and I'm not sure crime is so relevant in this area for so much security.

If you are Colombian and live in North Beach, this restaurant will soothe any nostalgia you have from your mother country . The dishes are typical of the central portion of Colombia (e.g. Bogota) with some Coastal dishes as well. The food is heavier with rice and red beans, corn arepas and warm broths of rib meat and chicken. I recommend this restaurant if you are curious about the Colombian cuisine and its culture. Colombians are patriotic and you'll see the walls charmingly decorated with folk artisan crafts and tiny houses. The service is friendly but the food takes slightly long so make sure you're not in a terrible hurry and bring a book or your mobile device to entertain you. There is a generous amount of free parking for a restaurant on the beach so this is a perk. The place is very niche and caters to Colombians and any foodie adventurers. You are automatically greeted in Spanish which could potentially turn away tourists and new non-Hispanic visitors. Just a tip, the food is cooked daily and fresh so be aware of this, they might be out of a dish if it's late in the day. I recommend asking what the meal of the day is and sticking with that, they'll be plenty in stock early in the day and you won't be disappointed when you have your heart set on an item in the menu only to find out it's no longer available. All in all a good place to eat if you're in the mood for a home-cooked Colombian meal.

Food was okay but the service wasn't. We sat down and the server didn't even acknowledged us for 10 minutes. I ordered Colombian style steak and did not meet my expectation at all. Food was pretty cheap - guess you get what you pay for

Being from Colombia, I'm a little picky when it comes to a good Colombian restaurant. This location was by far one of the best Colombian restaurants in Miami, especially in the Miami Beach area. The food was fresh and very tasty. The staff (the owners) were very friendly. The location is small, but perfect. The food came out quick and for the amount of food it was priced reasonably. I recommend the Bandeja Montañera.

  • Ghermay W.

This is not a spot for the faint of heart, specially if you happen to be there on the wrong days. Wrong as in, wrong soup day or wrong waitress day. It's always a fast moving interaction between the staff and patrons. Expect to wait a bit to find stools to seat on and once seated prepare to fight for elbow room with fellow diners as if you are on the coach seats of Spirit Air. Now, all that pain is worth every dish on the menu. Good luck and enjoy.

Incredible and most authentic Colombian food in town. Great service and amazing food!.. Ms. Lida always greets you with a smile and phenomenal service. The bandeja Paisa is so fulfilling and the Pescasdo sudado (fish in tomato sauce) is unmatched! To top it off the prices are very very affordable, nothing is more than $12 .. What a steal!

The food is edible but the owner/waiter(?) there is tricky and ripped us off. The menu is useless, just has names of dishes but no description and has no prices so I ordered his recommendation and asked for the price. Later I saw that there were prices on the window and it was lower than what he quoted me for the dish I ordered. I asked about the price difference when I paid and he said it was because the avocados in my bandeja paisa cost extra, which I never requested. He also charged me $1.50 for water that I never received, which surprised me greatly that a dingy place like this (as a dirty as a 7-Eleven; flies landing on my food during the meal) would charge for water, and when I pointed out that I never even got water, he took off the charge but didn't make any effort for courtesy. My friend got a passion fruit drink that cost $2.50, which I'm sure would have been $1 if we spoke Spanish. The food for the most part tasted good though, but there were some chunks of old or dry rice and really tough meat that was unchewable and had to be spat out. Due to the scam service I would never go back again.

You come here for the food not for the place. It is a hole in the wall and tiny cafetoria but the food is awesome. especially the bandeja paisa and the breakfast and coffee. Staff is very very nice. highly recommend! yum!

A hole in the wall with great food, great prices, and a staff that's warm and personable. My girlfriend (who's Colombian) and I went there after hanging out on the beach all day, and we loved the home made authenticity of the cuisine. We shared some chicharron, a side salad that included fresh ripe avocado and pickled cabbage, and Sopa de Res (beef, corn, plantain, yucca, potato) with a side of white rice and even more avocado. There's also a compliment of juices on tap behind the counter, along with emanadas and meringues.

i am asian but my bf and kids are hispanic so I usually go there for my sancocho craving on lunch time. there is no sancocho fill my stomach up but theirs. cheap, the amont is huge to me so i can even take halt to go for my dinner. if you are not hispanic or not familiar for latin food , mybe you might get anxious to get in there. staff are also friendly Colombian ppl who dont speak english that much . but i love them . BEST COLOMBIAN RESTAURANT MIAMI.

The food is authentic and amazing. You have to try the empanadas. Our waitress was exceptional and spoke both good English and Spanish. Has a diner feel with a lot of counter seats. All-around an awesome place for breakfast or lunch. Haven't tried dinner yet but I'm sure it's good too.

  • Allegra C.

What a great little dive - no tables - just 2 counters and 22 stools running parallel to optimize a room that's maybe 15 feet at its widest. But don't let that dissuade you from trying Mi Columbia. Offering good home cooking, generous portions and reasonable prices, it's just the place to find soul-satisfying food where pretentiousness is checked at the door.

  • Zao Z.

great little latin food counter. they had overall great food and snacks. They seem to make everything from scratch. its worth a look the salsa is really good

  • Rick R.

1 star for ambiance - quaint, clean and authentic 1 star for service - staff was neat, attentive and pleasant 1 star for value - lots of platters for 10 bucks 1 star for location - own parking lot in crowded Miami Beach Unfortunately it doesn't earn the elusive 5th star for food because my Bandeja Paisa wasn't really fresh. The steak was thin and way overcooked, and I get better Maduros at the case of my local Publix. As a disclosure I did have lunch there past peak hrs (2pm). Will definitely return and give them second chance.

I'm now in the Normandy Isle neighborhood, which I really dig because there are some interesting food options within walking distance to my house. One such place is Cafeteria Y Restaurante Mi Colombia. This place is a divey Colombian joint, that serves a few Colombian specialties right. They also serve Colombian antojos (snacks), like empanadas and Colombian chorizo (maybe my favorite of the Latin American sausages) and the ubiquitous Colombian baked and fried pastries (pan bono, buonelos, etc). They also do some sweet pastries (like doughnuts), which always look really good. That being said, if you want Colombian baked goods, I might go across the street to Mi Tierra's bakery (detached from Mi Tierra's main restaurant), as the empanadas there are superior to Mi Colombia's (however Mi Colombia has the BEST aji in Miami). As to the cooked to order food? Mi Colombia is very good. They serve hardy no frills Colombian fare. My last visit there I had the pollo frito with a beautiful salad (posted a local photo). The Chicken was prepared beautifully (though I thought a bit under seasoned) served with salsa criolla. Just add some of the magic aji, and you're set. Breakfast is also great at Mi Colombia. The great thing about this place is that it's always filled with Colombians. If you go to an ethnic restaurant, first rule of thumb: It must be frequented by the ethnic group where the food is from. A must. I'm not sure where all these Colombians are coming from, but I know they eat at Mi Colombia. For good reason, the food is very good and very affordable. My wife, a tried a true Colombiana, also enjoys the restaurant. We highly recommend this place.

If you find yourself round these parts of the beach.. I'd definitely say, Why not? Check this place out if you like Authentic Colombian food. I dont think its a five star place, not going out of my way to eat here again or anything like that. But it was a good experience. I think we walked in right before the lunch time rush, the seats were quickly starting to fill up. I got the grilled chicken with fries and salad. The salad is superb, I love how many veggies it has, they are very generous with their avocado! My friend ordered the arepa with meat and cheese, and she had no complaints about it. It looked and tasted great. Her mom ordered the fish soup, and she appeared to enjoy it. The atmosphere is great, my friends were from out of town and they really felt like they were eating at a true Miami restaurant/ cafeteria. There is some intangible to the rice here... its so good.. even though its so basic. Leave it to the colombians for their secret special sazon!

this is the best restaurant in miami beach! everything about it is beautiful: hand painted murals in the hallways, cozy intimate counter and stools, delicious smells of fresh plantains and arepas frying, and the most amazing service you can imagine. the owner/server took care to explain each dish, so sweet and kind, and the food was ready quickly. traditional columbian dishes prepared with love, and so much flavor! and an extremely affordable menu: three course meal, fresh passion fruit juice, delicious traditionaL custard for less than the cost of an appetizer on miami beach. GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. if i lived here i would eat here every day.

I'm from Los Angeles so I've had my fair share of Latino breakfasts. This is a small dive with only counter seating. The waiter and cook spoke little English but I got the requested steak and eggs with little problems. Meat was flavorful and tender in parts, nice and grisly at the edges. Eggs scrambled and loaded with onions too. But the real treat was the coffee with milk. Basically it's a latte, smooth and rich. Total bill with tip was less than 10 bucks. Can't wait to go back.

I visited this place on my way back from accompanying a friend to a meeting in Miami. I would have honestly never gone inside if I hadn't made my friend pull over so I could find someplace to eat on Yelp. This place had good reviews so I figured why not. We turned around, parked, paid the meter, used the itty bitty filthy bathroom and then went up to order our food. We were served some sort of bread in a basket, which I tried and didn't really like. When I tried to dab a little of the salsa on the bread to see if I would like, I dropped the whole thing in the bowl. I picked it up and ate it anyway and that's when I got tunnel-vision and the room started spinning. No joke. That stuff is seriously spicy! Luckily, my friend is a native Spanish speaker or I would have been totally lost looking at the menu. I ended up getting the chicken and rice as my entree and it was so amazingly delicious. Plus there was so much of it, it made two whole meals. I also had an empanada, which was the best empanada I've ever had in my whole life. It made every empanada before it seem like a joke. I brought some salsa and an empanada home for Sam and he loved them both. I still think about this place from time to time and since I'm moving to the opposite side of the country I know I'll probably never eat here again. As far as I'm concerned it's the only reason to go back to to Miami that I'll ever have.

Amazing service and food. Lida is just the sweetest and was so attentive and kind. The food was so jaw droppingly good we came back another two times within three days. Anything you order off the menu is delicious, can't go wrong with this place! The prices are more than reasonable and the portions are huge. The next time we come back to Miami this will be our first stop!

It was my first trip to South Beach and before I have never had Colombian food, but was I in for a surprise! The place was kinda small but the food was incredibly delicious! I am of hispanic decent but i've never tasted food this good before from another country!! If you go to the Miami Beach area you HAVE TO come and eat here! The people are extremely friendly and you get your $$$$$ worth! Try the breakfast and the Colombian Coca-Cola.

You could practically call me the "colonel;" I have just returned from visiting familia in the mighty Midwest and as a foodie I came toting at least 11 herbs and spices. And I was ready to come home and make chicken! Chicken soup that is - minus a stop at the local bodega to pick up some legs, thighs and a few veggies (leeks and parsnips are my favorite additions and I think kick up a notch the standard usuals of onions & carrots). But I was stymied in an attempt to nurse myself back to health after catching one of those holiday travel colds (thanks family with mucus breathing snotty brats on crowded plane! NOT!). I really felt, well TOO DARN SICK! WAH! Thank the goddess and the spirits that around the very corner from my humble domain is the little hole in the wall - Mi Colombia!! Oh Divinity - can this dive serve up some great soups. There is no TV here, and probably no wifi - but there are some of the best health inducing San Cocho's this side of Cartagena! You get your sides of steamy sticky rice, pulpy avocados, and soups that are bathing in thick broths swimming with cilantro - it's hot, spicy and oh so good - but whether or not you do take out - bring out that box of tissues, because there is some sinus clearing ahead! Mi Colombia has different soup specials daily and also serves up a hearty fresh batch of daily made chiccharrones (crunchy yummy munchy pig skin soaked in fat - oh yeah - great for the diet! MWA JA - NOT!), fresh spongy donuts rolled in white sugar and the usual Colombian fare that is highlighted by a mouthwatering (if eventual heart stopping) "Paisa Bandeja" - a platter of traditional Colombian fare that is not for the faint of heart or those demanding diet/veggie options - it's kind of a religion in and of itself. Me? I'm a devotee!

True Colombian fare at great prices. I'm 1/2 Colombian, and lucky to live a few blocks away. We go here all the time! In fact, we are going for breakfast today - they have great arepas, pan de bono, and these amazing scrambled eggs. And so cheap!

Under the wise advice of a friend from Miami, four of us crowded in Mi Colombia. Our timing was perfect. When we entered, the place was at half capacity. Though I don't recall exactly, I'm going to guess capacity at 20 people and it's bar seating only. Even better is that the bar seating that faces away from the counter is covered in mirrors. Thus, our party of four easily maintained the conversation by talking to our reflections. Enough about the atmosphere though. The food is impossible to go wrong with. We tried every empanada in sight and and couple different platters. Their salsa is where the place really shines though. House made excellence that starts off sweet and finishes with plenty of heat. We likely killed half a gallon of it between all of our food. Of the endless amounts of dining I did in Miami, this was one of my best experiences.
